Brief Description:  Approach Fast-Track Hub Installation

Installed the Approach Fast-Track Pro-X hub which will help me immensely in integrating my Dynon avionics suite with each other and the rest of my plane. The Pro-X hub is where all the information shared in this network comes together and gets pushed out to the appropriate avionics and controls.

To mount the hub, I temporarily attached some of the (many) cables and buses that came with this installation, then moved the hub around to determine the "best" place to mount it. My definition of best was a location that was easily accessible while maintaining minimum strain on the various cables. My final choice was on the cockpit side of the firewall slightly right of center, and even with the Engine Control Unit (ECU) which was already mounted.

Mounting the hub involved drilling 4 holes through the firewall to match the mounting bracket. The original hole side on the backet was for a #6 metal screw, but I updrilled it to AN3 size to give it a little more strength on the firewall. Four holes, 4 bolts, washers and nuts, and a quick torque to 22.5 pounds and the bracket was installed. The hub is inserted into the bracket and held in place with 2 locking nuts.
