Brief Description:  Replaced Parking Brake Control Cable

Before continuing with the fuel line installation, I decided to take care of a problem my EAA Tech Counselor pointed out to me during his visit in August. I had installed a parking brake valve down in the now very busy area forward of the center console. To control the parking brake, I installed a control cable that ran directly from the center console to the brake valve control arm with no intervening securing. This resulted in a pretty flimsy brake control that was prone to bending before moving the brake arm the full distance required.

Since my TC's visit, I purchased a new control cable because I'd cut the first one too short to use in this new configuration. This time, I secured the control cable sleeve to an attach point I'd included in my originally fabricated parking brake mount with an adel clamp (see 5-2-2015 entry). I also added a "B-Nut" I picked up from Vans Aircraft to secure the inner cable to the brake valve control arm. I feel a lot better having done this now as the brake control cable is solid as a rock, the stops on it are well defined, and it moves so much more smoothly.
