Brief Description:  Instrument Panel 2

With the Blizzard of 2016 ongoing here in DC, I moved a bunch of tools and equipment from the garage back down to the basement so I could get some work done!

Today I continued the slow, meticulous work of building the instrument panel. The job is simplified immensely with the aluminum template provided to my by Zenith. What I've been doing it clamping the template in place, tracing the outlines of the template openings onto the forward side of the instrument panel, then using the template as a guide for an Olfa knife. With about 20 scores for each cut, the work goes pretty slowly, but the Olfa knife cuts are perfectly straight and clean. Once I complete a cutout, I remove the template from the panel and file the newly cut edges until the instrument for that hole fits snugly all the way around.. That's the meticulous part.

Today I completed the openings for the Skyview monitor (my primary everything* instrument), the power panel (master switch, other switches, circuit breakers) and the glove box. Next are the radio, intercom, ELT monitor, flap switch, and 2 throttle mounts.

*Everything: airspeed, altitude, heading, turn-n-slip, attitude, synthetic vision, moving map, navigation, other air traffic, and comprehensive engine information.
