Brief Description:  First Engine Run (plus a little more)

Performed the first engine run today by running a couple of hoses (feed and return) from a jerry can through the side of the fuselage into the rest of my fuel system. Hardest part of the run was to get fuel pumped into the engine. With the plastic fuel can on the ground, the fuel pump didn't have enough oomph to pull the fuel up. Once we figured how high we needed to raise the can (some where near as high as the wing tank will be once the wings are install - of course), the fuel was pulled through the pumps and eventually up to the engine no problem. After about 3 tries cranking the engine before the fuel was present, I was surprised how quickly it started. Three "fix 'ems" from the test are:

- Calibrate the RPM gage by dividing the engine input by 2 (the engine puts out 2 pullses per revolution and my Skyview is wired for one pulse per revolution out of the factory).
- Calibrate the fuel flow gage: The ULPower injectors pulse at 170 pps resulting in 48 liters/hr (or 12.68 GPH). The pulses per hour conversion for the Skyview will be a factor of 48264 to get the appropriate GPH reading.
- Determine which cylinder on the right side magneto isn't firing - hoping this is a wiring/loose plug issue.

Lastly, my partner and I got further down the path of trimming the left wing skin for final installation.

Here's the engine run.
