Brief Description:  Engine Control Unit (ECU) Mount

Mounted the ECU to the inside of the firewall. Location was selected with only a couple of considerations: 1. Inside the aircraft, 2. Within reach of the large wire bundle and cannon plug coming off the engine. That pretty much limited my choices to what you see in the pictures.

The ECU is mounted to the firewall via AN3 bolts that run through the ECU, aluminum spacers, and the firewall. The hardware shipped from Zenith was probably for an older model ECU because it consisted of AN4 bolts with spacers. A quick order to Aircraft Sprucer for the smaller bolts and aluminum tubing to convert into spacers took care of the difference.

Once the ECU was mounted, I cut a hole in the firewall large enough to accommodate the 2.1" cannon plug at the end of the wire bundle running from the engine to the ECU. To close off the hole, I'll install a firewall penetration kit provided by Zenith which reduces the hole down to the size of the wire bundle and the protective tape I'm going to put around it) and adds a nylon grommet to prevent wear.
