Brief Description:  Oil Cooler Fitting 2

Continued work on the oil cooler assembly today after receiving my oil filter wrench in the mail late yesterday (ya gotta love Amazon 1-day delivery!).

Step 1 was to remove a plug from the oil sump and replace it with the oil temperature sensor which will connect to the Dynon engine monitoring system.

Step 2 was to install the oil filter sandwich plate (Zenith's name, not mine) which converts the original oil filter attachment point on the UL350iS to a filter attachment with outflow and inflow fittings. These fittings are for attaching hoses to the oil cooler radiator installed yesterday.

Step 3 was to measure, fabricate and install my first stainless braid hose between the oil filter sandwich plate and the radiator. Measuring was straightforward. Fabricating involved cutting the hose cleanly (I used a Dremel cutting wheel - worked great), trimming off tiny, excess wires, inserting the hose into the disassembled fittings for each end (using a slotted screwdriver to make sure everything tucked in correctly), then reassembling the fittings and tightening to lock the hose in place. I had enough time to do one of the hoses then head into work.
