Brief Description:  Fuel Pump Setup

Brought all the parts for the dual fuel pump assembly up from the shelves in the basement and started putting them together. First up, after making sure I had all the right parts, was to measure the firewall for correct positioning of the fuel pump bracket. Once positioned, I drilled out the 4 rivet holes which will hold the finished backet in place.

Next, I removed the bracket from the firewall and began assembling all the parts together on my workbench. The parts include the 2 electric fuel pumps, 2 coarse filters (1 per pump), a suction collector that runs across the bottom of the assembly and a double fuel pump ramp that runs across the tops of the two fuel pumps. The fuel enters the assembly from the bottom inboard side through the suction collector, up through the two coarse filters, through the two fuel pumps, then out the fuel pump ramp outboard and from their on to the engine (passing through the fine filter, fuel pressure sensor, and fuel flow counter along the way).

The two pumps and two filters were snugged down to the bracket with hose clamps. The filters were connected to the fuel pumps via flexible fuel hose then clamped. Finally, the suction collector was connected to the filters with more flexible hoses and clamps. Finally, the entire assembly was reattached to the firewall with clecos.
