Brief Description:  Replaced Regulator/Rectifier

On my 21st test flight (36 hours) my original, factory-supplied regulator/rectifier (R/R) failed in flight. While the failure didn't appear to be complete (there was some residual voltage to the battery with the power at idle), under normal inflight power settings, the battery was the only real source of power. In my plane, with a ULPower engine, no electricty = no engine running, so fixing this problem is a must.

The original ULPower R/R has a bad reputation for overheating and failing. As a shunt R/R, the unit produces a lot of it's own heat and in spite of the cooling hose, are prone to failing after a period of use. So I purchased a more modern Mosfet R/R from a reliable "aviation" motocycle shop (Roadster Cycle) and installed it using their very clear instructions and nearly foolproof installation kit.
