Brief Description: Right Fuel Tank Level Calibration
Performed the right fuel tank level calibration. Thought this should be pretty quick as I had a set routine down for performing this on the left side. However, after the third gallon addition, the voltage on the fuel sender never changed again. Obviously something wrong.
So I emptied the tank, removed the underwing access panel and performed a visual inspection of the sender and wiring. Turns out the grounding wire I had on the sender itself was not attached securely to the sender body. So I cut off the ring connector, installed a new one, then reattached it to the sender (it's secured to one of the 5 screws holding the sender in place).
I restarted the test, and noticed after the 5th gallon, the reading didn't change. Did some searching on the internet to find out that sometimes the senger needs a little "encouragement" to move the float. So I jiggled the wing from the tip and recalibrated, and sure enough the voltage changed. After that I started over one last time and completed the test by jiggling the wing before each calibration reading. Hopefully, the jiggling will occur normally in a flying aircraft!
