Brief Description:  ELT Test

Tested the GPS data feed for the ACK ELT. To do this I had to assemble a GPS Data Verification Test Tool in accordance with the ACK installation instructions. The test tool consists of a small, 2 volt, 3 or 5mm LED which is connected to the test line of the ELT by one wire and grounded to the aircraft for the other. When assembling the ELT for installation, one of the 4 wires leading out of the wire bundle cannon plug is a small pigtail lead left in place specifically for this test.

So I butt-spliced an alligator clip to each of the 2 wires leading out of the LED and added a 300 ohm, 0.25 watt resister to the wire to be connected to the pigtail. With the test tool in hand, I hooked everything up, powered up the plane, waited for a GPS fix and confirmed the LED light was blinking.
