Brief Description:  Aileron Control Cables Installation 2

Continued installing the aileron control cables by focusing on the balance cable. The balance cable counteracts the force of the control cables so that when you raise one of the elevators (using its respective cable), the balance cable simultaneously lowers the opposite airleron. For what it's worth, the balance cable on the Zenith Zodiac is quite inaccessible.

For installation, the two balance cables (one from each wing) are connected to each other behind the passenger seat with a turnbuckle assembly thereby making it a single cable. Unfortunately, this cable resides about 6 inches forward of the two control cables which are, themselves, barely accessible. The good news is the balance cable is accessible through the open seat back of the passenger seat. The bad news is, if you're my size, you have to sit on the wing and lay over the canopy rail to stretch down inside to access the cable.

After a couple of hours of stretching, cramping, and sweating, I was able to connect the two cables using a turnbuckle assembly and tighten in place with cable clamps. Looks like I'll need one more session to snug down the balance cable one more time before swaging the cables in place.
