Brief Description:  Misc Tail Section Cleanup

Took care of some final details for the tail section today. First, I ran a rubber seal between the aft fuselage top skin and the leading edge of the horizontal tail (HT) and glued it in place using Gorilla Glue. There's nothing in the plans about this, but it seems like there should be something protecting the HT from the sharp edge of the top skin.

Next I applied the same rubber seal to the lower edges of the saddle. Again, not in the plan, but it seems to give it a more finished look.

But the biggest task today was to install the lower elevator stops. If you recall, I previously created the upper elevator stops in Tail Section Integration 3 (11 June). Today I fabricated both stops (L/R) from the same nylon material used for the flap stops and attached them underneath the elevator just aft of the rear attach points for the HT. The trick was to adjust the height of the stops so the elevator would deflect downward between 12 and 15 degrees. Mine deflect down 14.4 degrees. Good to go.
