Brief Description:  Rewired Ignition Switch

Based on the advice of a well-trusted builder, I rewired my ignition switch today. I won't mention his name in case he prefers anonymity, but I have connected, through the Kitlog website, with a fellow CH-650B builder who is racing me to the completion finish line. Recently we began sharing emails which led to sharing drawings and ideas which led to sharing wiring diagrams. Did I mention he is an electrical engineer by education? Today, he called me while I happened to be at the hangar and after carefully talking me through it, pointed out where I miswired the grounding wire from the ECU to my ignition switch. I put it on my "I'll get back to that later" list and thanked him for the information.

After I hung up, I realized I wasn't going to sleep well until I understood how much work this would set me back considering my switch was already completely installed, so I decided to check it out.

Turns out, it was a piece of cake. The ignition switch was easier to access than I thought (hooray for maintenance loops!) and I had wired it in such a way, that the fix only required me to move 2 ring terminals from the incorrect posts to the correct post. One hour tops! While I was fiddling with the switch, I decided to lock it into position better by riveting the labeled switch plate to the center console to further prevent switch rotation.
