Brief Description:  Tail Section Integration 2

Continued integrating the tail section. Today the focus was on permanently setting the saddle's final position. After a couple more rounds of trimming the rudder leading edge skin and checking the saddle for fit, I finally got it close enough to the final position to begin working on attaching the saddle to the horizontal tail.

The saddle is attached to the horizontal stabilizer by 2, 100mm long L-angles near the aft end and the forward edge tucks up under the aft top skin of the fuselage. While the instructions have the saddle riveted to the airplane, I want to be able to remove the saddle for inspections of the top elevator cable attachments and horn. To do this, I will use nutplates and screws instead of rivets.

At the end of the day, the L-angles are fabricated and fit to the horizontal stabilizer and the rear top skin holes are measured and drilled. The 2 L-angles still require nut plates before their final installation as does the front edge of the saddle.
