Finished off the transponder antenna installation this morning by:
- Drilling a 1/2" hole through the floor of the cabin in the vicinity of the previously mentioned "X". - Cleaning up the hole by deburring and sanding it. - Installing the antenna through the hole and tightening it in place. - Attaching the previously fabricated antenna cable to the antenna. - Installing 2 zip tie mounts to one of the diagonal firewall stiffeners to secure the cable between the antenna and the transponder - Installing a "spacer" zip tie to safely pass the antenna cable across the top horizontal firewall stiffener on its way to the transponder.
It's fully installed and apparently works as I got a "Reply" indication (yellow circle with "R" in image 3) on the Dynon Skyview display indicating the transponder was responding to an interrogation! Hopefully no one noticed since the aircraft registration number I have programmed into the transponder is for a (so far) unregistered number (but it is reserved)!
Antenna near rudder pedal with cable running up the diagonal and past the horizontal flanges.
