Brief Description:  Wiring through the Cockpit 1

Began work on running the wiring through the cockpit to the aft sections of the plane. The Zodiac model has a natural channel along each side of the cockpit up under the upper fuselage longeron doubler. While there's lots of room under the doubler, securing wire bundles can be a bit of a challenge. I came up with a solution.

I fabricated what I'm calling wiring brackets from scrap, 5-inch-long L-angle pieces. These brackets perform 2 functions. First, they provide an attach point for adel clamps that run up under the longeron doubler. Second, they provide a mounting surface for nut plates so that I may attach the aft interior side panels to the ribs.

In short, I'm attaching one wiring bracket to each of the 4 major vertical structures on each side of the cabin interior: 2 x landing gear uprights, 1 x seat back side angle, and 1 x rear wing upright. I confirmed with the factory that drilling 2 x A4 rivets into each upright would have no structural impact. Today was mostly figuring out the fit and positioning, but I came up with a workable design and finished 2 of the wiring brackets on the pilot's side before the temperature crossed over into the 90s.
