Brief Description:  Trim Servo Relay Installation

Installed the trim servo relay permanently today. The servo relay acts as an intermediary between the small single-pole/single-throw switches of the 4-way hat switch in the stick grip and the trim motors which expect a double-pole/double throw switch to control them. The relay ensures the motor never receives a simultaneous up-and-down (or left-and-right) input - it's either one direction or the other - with the tiny mechanical switches in the grip.

After a lot of head-scratching and eyeballing, I decided to install the servo relay in an easily accessible location. Besides ease of maintenance, I chose easy accessibility because the two wires carrying the up-or-down (or left-or-right) signal to each servo are identical - they're both plain white. So instead of constantly performing continuity checks every time I fiddled with one of those wires or the wire bundle it comes in, I decided it would be a lot simpler to just switch the two wires in the servo relay if the trim surface runs backwards.

For installation, I attached the servo relay to the top of the glove box using two #8 instrument panel (brass) screws held in place by locking washers and nuts. I added an adel clamp to the edge of the glovebox to stabilize the 10 wires leading into the relay.
