Brief Description:  Flap Switch Wiring

Received the flap switch in the mail yesterday so went ahead and installed it this morning. The flap switch is a 3 position switch where the middle position is "off" and the other two positions are momentary "on." When connected to the flap motor, the switch allows me to move the flap motor in either direction (extend or retract) and stop flap motor travel in any position by releasing the switch. I placed it above the pilot's side throttle for the convenience/safety of being able to use the switch with my hand still on the throttle.

I had considered using the two buttons on the top of my Tosten CS-8 control stick for raising and lowering the flaps, but was advised in a conversation with Tosten that this is not a good idea as it would be too easy to inadvertently press one of the buttons and command an unexpected (and perhaps unsafe) flap movement. I accepted his advice!

Lastly, I also received a diode in the mail I installed onto the master solenoid as recommended by Dynon Avionics to reduce/eliminate voltage spikes when turning the master switch off and on.
