Made one last trim along the cooling hole flanges to fit the cowling better in the fore-aft axis. It's all good now.

Next, I drilled out holes along the seam between the two cowlings to attach them together. These will eventually be replaced by nut plates with washered screws.

Lastly, I attached a sharpie to a 3 foot piece of wood and used it to trace the leading edge of the forward top skin and two forward fuselage side skins to set up for final trimming of the cowlings' aft edges.
