Brief Description:  Spark Plug Leads Complete

Finished up the spark plug leads by confirming the lead lengths and routings, trimming up the leads, threading them through the looms at the back of each baffle, and attaching the spark plug boots.

The routing seems up in the air to me right now and I'm going to confirm it with my EAA Tech Advisor on his next visit. Following the directions found in the ULPower Homebuilt.com video, the leads cross over the top of the engine. Looking at a Zenith Aircraft Co. video from their site that pans around a ULPower installation it looks like they cross the wires under the engine across the lower part of the engine mount. I can secure them either way - I'll talk to an expert to get his opinion.

Adding the plug boots is pretty simple. The boot came with 2 rubber seals: one that seals the plastic boot to the lead and one the seals the other end of the boot to its connection to the spark plug. So for each of the 8 leads, I slid the seal to the lead down onto the lead a little way and pushed the other seal over the plug-end of the boot. From that point, I pushed the non-plug end of the boot over the lead and began turning it in a clockwise direction. A metal corkscrew-like post inside the boot digs into the lead ensuring a connection to the wire and providing a strong, stable overall connection to the lead. Once each boot was on tight, I slid each seal back up the lead to cover the non-plug end of the boot and it's good to go.
