Brief Description:  EAA Electrical Systems Workshop

Attended the EAA-sponsored Electrical Systems Workshop in Peachtree City, GA at the Aircraft Spruce distribution center there. The course was excellent!

I don't have much experience in wiring beyond basic household stuff, so this was a real opportunity for me. Besides, I'm on extended travel right now which takes me away from my project for several months, but this workshop happened to be close to where my temporary location is. Lastly, the next big task I have on the airplane is to start the electrical system in earnest, so the timeing for this was perfect.

The course was two days long, taught by Dick Koehler (from my home EAA Chapter in DC!) who you might have seen on several of the EAA instructional videos. Course topics included electrical theory, reviews of various FAA regs, wiring basics, tools, wiring techniques, and avionics considerations. We were guided through 4 hands-on projects during the course which included crimping, splicing, D-sub connections, mic/headphone jacks, antenna leads, switches, fuses, rheostats, and a simplified panel project. It was definitely a worthwhile investment!
