Brief Description:  Baggage Floor Carpet

In preparation for closing up the back half of the cockpit in the next few days, I installed the baggage floor carpet this morning. I found a good deal on fire-resistent, indoor/outdoor carpet so I bought enough for the baggage floor and cockpit floor. Cutting out the carpet to fit the baggage floor reminded me of what a challenge I thought it was to size, fit, and install the baggage floor last March. Today was much easier.

I've been mulling over how to attach the carpet for a few days with consideration given to glue (yech!), velcro (hmmm...) and indoor/outdoor carpet tape. Glue seemed too messy (and probably smelly). The velcro approach was the most intriguing, but when I saw how thick the industrial-strength version was, I decided against it. I'm happy, so far, with the carpet tape decision. Less messy/permanent than glue. No ridges like with velcro. We'll see how it holds up under wide ranging temperatures as well as wear & tear over time. Easy enough to switch to something else in the futue,
