After breaking down the canopy yesterday I began today by completing all those little tasks I had been putting off that will be covered permanently when I finish installing the baggage floor and the rear canopy.
First, I torqued and cottered (as appropriate) the bolts that attach the flap motor to the actuator and tested it one more time to make sure nothing was binding. Done.
Next, I cottered the four bolts that connect the canopy latches to the canopy latch torque tube. Done.
Then I installed the spring that connects to the canopy torque tube and holds pressure against the latches in the locked position (a nice safety feature!). Done.
Then I fitted, cut, drilled, deburred, filed, sanded, and painted a vertical L-angle that connects the rear frame (where the aft wing spar attaches) to the upper frame (where the baggage floor rests). I then riveted the upper frame and L-angle into place. Done.
Next up - baggage floor final prep.
Canopy latch bolts cottered and locking spring installed.
Upper channel riveted in place. Z-angle cross brace also ready for installation.
