Brief Description:  Front Canopy Forward Frame Install

Finished off the front canopy fitting and drilling today. Primary task was to fit the forward canopy frame in place. I started out by updrilling al the attachment holes to their final size and permanently riveting the side mounting gussets to the ends of the frame (these will hold the forward frame to the side frames). Then I rolled the plane out into the driveway so that I could install the gas springs that help overcome the weight of the canopy when raising and lowering it. While in the garage, the ceiling (and the wings hanging from it) limit how far I can raise the canopy.

Next I got everything I needed to drill through the forward bubble and cleco it, and to set the frame in position. Then my ever helpful wife volunteered to jump into the passenger seat and set the position of the forward canopy bow then hold it there while I drilled out the acrylic bubble.

Once the bubble was attached to the frame, we traded places, I hopped in, and drilled the forward frame gussets into the side frame using an angle drill. Canopy frame fitting complete.

At the end I fetched the rear canopy out of the basement and began the process of fitting it to the rear frame.
