While waiting for the nose gear strut paint to dry, I began work on the main gear. Today I updrilled the axle pilot holes Zenith provided to final bolt size. I then disassembled one of the Matco wheel/brake assemblies to:
- Test fit the axle to the spring gear - Build up the tire and wheel assembly - Figure out how the Matco brakes install/work as there is a distinct paucity of instructions (luckily, I have two wheels so I could refer back to the fully assembled one when I got lost a couple of times!) - Assemble the wheel/tire onto the axle for fit.
I also painted a final coat onto the nose strut - metallic silver to (somewhat) match the aluminum spring gear of the mains.
