Made a lot of progress on the nose gear today. Here's what was accomplished:
- Lower bearing mount was updrilled for bolts (all 11 holes). - Lower bearing mount was cleaned up and painted with Cortec. - Bottom bearing attachment holes were drilled and tapped for AN4-sized bolts. - Bottom bearing was assembled to the lower bearing mount (test fit). - Tire inner tube was checked and inserted into tire (thank you baby powder!). - Nose tire was mounted on nosewheel assembly and inflated. - Nosegear fork and doubler were deburred, filed, sanded, and painted with Cortec. - Entire nosegear was assembled to test for fit. - Nose gear strut was removed from fork and sanded clean to shiny steel. - Nosegear strut was painted with undercoating.
A productive day.
Bottom bearing (black Nyloil) attached to lower bearing mount. Used a tap to thread holes in bearing.
Nose gear fully (test) assembled. Baby powder had a key role in inserting the tube!
Nose gear strut hangs to dry after sanding and undercoating.
