Brief Description:  Flap Actuator Installation

Finished installing the flaps. A few weeks ago I started working on the flap bearings, but was sidetracked by other tasks. Today I completed fitting all of the flap components. I started out by fabricating the right side flap bearing (left one was completed a few weeks back) and determining where to attach it to the rear frame. It's quite a juggling act connecting the long right flap control tube to the shorter left side control tube through the flap control arm then ensuring each bearing is firmly against the stop ring on each control tube (with a steel shim installed). Then it's a simple matter of standing on one's head with an angle drill to attach the bearig to the rear frame on each side.

Somehow it all worked out. The real challenge, as I understand it, will be to drill out and bolt those two control tubes to the actuator arm at precisely the correct angle during wing installation.
