Brief Description: Seat Bottoms and Arm Rest Complete
Measured out the rivet lines and drilled out the two seat bottoms. The seat bottoms look like an aluminum sling hung between the seat back and the forward seat panel and provide a little flex in your sitting position.
I also re-inserted the Arm rest sides to measure them for nut plates and a hinge. The original plans call for the arm rest top to be riveted in place, but because so much stuff runs through the arm rest channel (flight control pipe, rudder & elevator cables, wiring from the aft fuselage and wings, pitot/static hoses) I want to be able to readily access that area in the future. So I installed 4 nut plates near the top edge of each arm rest side panel that correspond to the 4 holes I drilled in the side flange of the arm rest top. I then added a hinge to the back of the arm rest top and attached it to the center seat back channel. I'll updrill to final cleco size in my next session.
Seat Bottoms drilled out and clecoed. Arm rest now has nut plates in this picture.
