Brief Description: Right Wing Lower Protection Plate
DId some odds-n-ends this morning to get the wing ready to flip over for final assembly of the nose skin.
Measured, drilled out, deburred, sanded, painted and installed the lower skin protection plate. This "skin doubler" is designed to prtect the wind skin against impact by the aileron balance bar in case of over-deflection of the aileron - something that should never happen given the primary and secondary aileron stops.
I also fabricated an L-angle to attach the aft edge of the wingtip to the rear channel. After fitting it, I drilled it out, deburred, sanded, painted and riveted the L-angle into place.
Aileron balance bar protection plate on the inside of the lower skin.
Protection plate from the outside. The three holes on the edge will be drilled out for the wingtip.
Rear brace (L-angle) for the wingtip attached to rear channel.
