Brief Description:  Canopy

Over the past few weeks I have been working on the fit of the canopy. I decided to add all the time here. Basically, I have been working on the curve of the rails and the overall canopy fit.

The tool that finally made the fit possible was a shrinker (and stretcher) I borrowed from another EAA member. It took almost no pressure with the shrinker to finally get the fit almost perfect. I practiced with some scrap material first.

If you use a shrinker, you will be amazed at how little pressure it takes. I decided to start with almost no pressure and sneak up on the shape. The first light shrink was enough.

I also ordered new skins for the front two sections. (The frame and forward) I drilled them to size and rebent the skin that fits the frame. (The frame skin had a small tear in it and I decided to just order both while I was at it.)

I drilled the splice plate as well. (I actually ended up ordering them both two times.) I wasn't happy with the first ones I drilled.
