This evening I was finally able to make some progress. For the past few weeks I have been stumped with getting the canopy frame channels finished.
This afternoon I visited a welder in the area who is a master at working with metal. The channel would not lay flat for me... no matter what I did. He looked at the channel for a bit then clamped it on a table and twisted it. (He really reefed on it.) After the twist, he unclamped it and layed it on the table. It layed flat as a pancake.
So, this evening I reworked the two new channels I received from Vans today. In about an hour, they were ready to go. I used a combination of fluting and twisting to get them to sit flat.
I test fit the channels and they fit great. Next, I marked and drilled the doubler plate.
