Brief Description:  Wing Tip Lense

This afternoon, my goal was to finish the wing tip lens. I used the SoniCrafter to shape the lens close to the size of the opening. Then, I used the table belt sander to work the size closer and closer to the final shape.

I am going to re-order another lens and do the left one over again. After it fit into place, I could tell I had the final fit off a bit. The right side was much easier... but will probably re-do it also. It usually takes me 3 or 3 tries to actually figure something out.

I drilled the holes through the plexiglass and fiberglass to mount the nut plates. I epoxied everything in place and it looked great. I went back to the shop about 3 hours later and unscrewed the screws so they wouldn't be epoxied into place.

WHEN I returned the next morning and put the screws back in, a number of the nut plates just popped out. So... back to the drawing board. (I had read about a builder who had epoxied them in place and it roked fine.)
