It took today off of work and spent most of it working on the plane. My first project was the lower horizontal stabilizer fairings. (I have actually spent a good deal of time test fitting them... thinking how I was going to go about attaching them. My worry was installing them AFTER the horizontal stabilizer was attached. I didn't think there was room to work. - There was.)
I clamped them in place and marked where the forward nut plates needed to be installed. Then, removed them and installed the nut plates. Next, I trimmed the rubber seal and put it on the fairing. While holding it tight to the stab, I drilled and then installed clecoes.
After everything was drilled, I used a tap to add threads for the attach screws. When everything was finished, I countersunk the fairings. (I debated about dimpling them... but decided to countersink instead.) I will use washers if I need to.
