FIrst order of business this evening was to cut the last major hole in the panel. Above the 4 middle backup instruments I'm installing the Dynon autopilot control. Again, I cut the hole small and filed it to size.
Next I worked on a bracket to hole the avionics tray together and firmly to the panel. After a considerable amount of thinking I decided to go with rather thin aluminum, install nutplates and bend the piece to fit to the panel. I was thinking the metal might be thin enough to put under the two closest instruments. (I'd shim the others out so they were the same.) I thought it would make it more rigid.
When I test fit everything, I ran into a problem. I thought everything was going to smoothly. (See the next entry for a description.)
