Brief Description:  Shunt Installation

The last job for the day was installation of the shunt used by the Dynon Skyview. Cory and Cormac spent a good chunk of time trying to decide the best location and installation method for this item. (They both know WAY more about aircraft electrical than I do. But, I’m learning quick.)

Basically, we installed the shunt between the output of the alternator and the rest of the electrical system. That way, the Dynon can measure the output of the alternator. Once it was all said and done, it made perfect sense. (The Dynon is attached to the two small screws on the shunt.) The instructions call for a 60 AMP shunt and the box says 60 AMP but the unit has 40 AMPS stamped on it. I Googled it and I’m not the first to be confused. The 40 AMP unit is correct.
