Brief Description:  Hockey stick bending

Figured out how to bend the Hockey sticks, which are kind of the spar caps for the forward spar of the stabilator. Bent to 18 degrees. Used a vice, a v block, and a 3/4 " black pipe which has OD of 1". This gave me a 1/2 " radius bend. I actually tried initially to make the bend on a 1/2 ton arbor press, but I could hardly get the metal to budge. So I I went to the Sonex talk group discussion board and saw a niffty way to use a vice. Worked like a charm. Toughest part was determining if had the right angle. Was difficult because the hockey sticks are angled. I used a piece of stiff paper that I cut to shape at the desired angle and was able to bend the paper at the vertex of the angle to check the hockey stick bend.

I have one more forward spar to fabricate and trim a couple of end ribs. Then I will have all the pieces to do a mock assembly of the sub structure!
