Brief Description:  It flows...but the flowmeter doesn't...new headset

The hours are for Sat the 28th as well as today.

To get gas to the boost pump, I hooked some tygon tubing up to a tank vent and gently blew air into it. After a short time, gas came siphoning out. Switched the fuel lever to off and let things sit awhile. Shazam, the pump started pumping, but it didn't seem like it at first because fuel flow read 0.0. Tried switching the configuration to the second flow meter input pin in the Skyview EMS--no, I hadn't hooked it up wrong. Time to read up on troubleshooting Red Cubes, before cutting wires or taking apart the plumbing.

Speaking of wires, spliced the boost pump leads (the same way round they were before I cut them) with PIDG barrel crimps and tucked the wiring back into its split corrugated conduit.

Went ahead with baseline fuel flow tests with the a/c in nearly level attitude: about +1 degrees. Measured the fuel with a fish scale: right tank: 1.9 lb in 30 sec = 228 lb/hr; left tank: 3.6 lb in 60 sec = 216 lb/hr. For FI engines, FAA recommends 1.25 x 0.55 gal/HP/hr x 160 HP = 110 lb/hr. Plenty of margin when level--we'll see what happens with the inclined test.

Last thing: tested new Aviator Freedom-1 headset. Loud and clear radio check from Livermore Gnd, but I think I need to by the Etymotic ear sponge things--don't see to get a good seat with the small, med, or large spongies that came with.
