Fabricated a K1000-08 nut plate jig to drill the holes for 21 of them thar thangs in the F-706 bulkhead. Just a piece of ~1/16" mild steel with an 8-32 tapped hole. (Image 1.) Threaded a K1000-08 nutplate onto the 8-32 screw in the steel and #40 match drilled the nutplate rivet holes. Just locate the screw in a #19 hole and clamp the steel to the bulkhead. Drill both #40 holes, deburr, dimple, and install nut plates. I like to cleco the nutplate rivet holes a run a Boelubed screw through the virgin nutplate. Remove one cleco, rivet, remove other cleco, rivet. The tight screw makes sure nothing moves. (Image 2.)
Installed the aft 3 rivets on each of the cockpit armrests that tie them to the F-905 bulkhead. The outboard rivet on each side couldn't be reached by squeezer--used LP4-3 instead. Life is too short! (Image 3)
Nutplate jig.
Some of the nutplates after riveting, screws backed out.
