Brief Description:  Spar center section

Fixed the F-633-R bracket (a second time!): turned down the 3/8 Al rod to 5/16+ 3-5 mils by chucking the the drill press and applying the vixen file. The cylinder actually had a bit of taper, so it snugged up about halfway into the hole. Two light-ish taps with Karl's body-work hammer drove the other end pround of the back side.

I had marked the center of the rod while on the drill press and center-punched a starter hole prior to driving it into the bracket. Sawed, filed, sanded, polished, drilled and reamed to 0.1890. (Max dia of AN3 grip.)

Now the final mess up: I match drilled the second hole (where the 3/8-24 plug was put) to the left-hand bracket's position, not the right. The hole spacing was just different enough the bolts wouldn't go in with hand pressure! If I had successfully transferred the holes from the -L to -R bracket in the first place, the part still wouldn't have fit!

I reamed the bottom hole using the spar sections as the guide--created an small bit of ovalness in the hole. If I want to be "perfect", I'll need to get a fresh bracket and start all over. If the bracket, as is, is structurally sound, I'll keep it.

Spent the rest of the evening on preliminary fit up of the control column: reaming out the powder coating in bolt holes and brass bushings. Showed the stick to No 2 son and made airplane noises.
