Brief Description:  Aileron pushrods

Screwed one of the blocks from yesterday to an MDF board so I could clamp to drill press table. Marked the end of one of the aileron pushrods for the cross-drilled rivet holes. Positioned the tube so it's end was flush in the block and a #30 drill in the drill press was aligned to drill the hole. Clamped the tube down with the other block and drilled, with the rod-end bearing's insert in the tube. Repeat 3x.

Put a dull #30 drill through the just-drilled hole in the tube with the marked end and repositioned the jig, the drill in the hole giving a 90 degree reference and positioning the tube with respect to the end of the block for the second thru hole. Drilled the 2nd thru hole and repeated 3x.

Deburred the holes as I went along. Took out the rod-end bearing inserts. Tied a small bit of rag to the end of a string, soaked it in MEK, and pulled it through the rods. Repeated several times, then changed to a fresh bit of rag. Poured some AFS primer in the tubes and sloshed it around, then blew out the exess primer with a blast of compressed air. Also primed the inserts (they have hollow ends).

Let things dry in the sun for a couple hours, then put in the inserts and installed AN470AD4 rivets wet with primer.
