Brief Description:  Floxing reinforcement strips to the right wingtip

Drilled D sized holes in the strips, in between the nutplate hole patterns, providing flox a squeeze out mechanical lock. Made a sample #28 hole in 0.025 Alclad (same gauge as the ourboard wing skins) and countersunk all the #28 holes in the tips.

Sanded the right wing tip with 60 grit, and the faying surface of the strips, mixed up some flox and buttered up the inside edges of the wing tips, and set the strips in the flox, clecoing nutplates in in place to clamp everything up. Then drove a #6 screw into a nutplate, and riveted each lug, then removed the screw. After several nutplates riveted, scraped up squeeze out on the tip side of the strip and used it to make sure the D-sized holes were filled with a "button" of flox. Took a long time to do them all. No time to start the left tip.

Took the right tip home to cure in a warmer clime than the hangar.

Images below were taken 12/16/2017, long after the right tip strips were cured. The tip was at home where is untrimming fiberglass layups were curing in a warm environment. (See 12/16/2017 entry.)
