Brief Description: Wing root nutplates. Stnlss rod for elevator trim
Installed all of the wing root nutplates used to secure the wing root fairings, except for the leading edge of the left wing. A few of the 8-32 dimples caused cracks in the underlayers of aluminum. With a counter-sunk nutplate on bottom and wing root fairing on top, chance of these cracks propagating seems small.
Because I was bored with nutplates, decided to install the stainless rod in the elevator trim tab hinge. Had to straighten a too-short attempt at the top-bottom cowling hinge pin. Worked out fine, with just enough length to bend a small hook at the inboard end that was safetied to a 1/16" hole drilled in the inboard trim tab spar.
Pin was installed with a coating of Boelube and the trim motor moves it fully top to bottom without binding or stalling.
