Brief Description:  FIRST FLIGHT, SUMMARY

To sum up:
• N748PK is a real airplane, 100% assessable for California property tax as of 1 Jan 2019
• Besides elevator trim that’s a bit too fast, no major issues, except…
• …the two Dynon screens are a lot less redundant than I thunk they’d be!

Epilog:
I dumped user logs when I flipped on the master to get Hobbs and Tach times, but Dynon suggests saving a full Dynon Diagnostic File in the event of a System…um, Event, and that is a separate operation. Flipped the master on again, and this time the 10” screen didn’t wake up at all while the 7” screen displayed “EMS offline”, waiting for its colleague to wake up. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Flipped master off after a few minutes, then back on, both screen booted, and I dumped the diagnostic file from the 10” screen.

At this point I remembered seeing "system event 5" once before, during the long slog through avionics install and the last 10% of the build that took 90% of the time. Based on posts to the resurrected Dynon forum, bit rot in the box's non-volatile firmware memory chips is a potential root cause that is consistent with the observed behavior. Sent e-mail to Dynon tech support and uploaded the diagnostic file to their ftp site. Anticipate receiving an RMA soon, and I hope the turnaround isn’t too much delayed by OSH and all that.
