Brief Description:  Right tank leak and fit test/right aileron

Tested right tank--no leaks! See the xls in the 2007-10-28 folder for data.

Match drilled new rt aileron nose rib/nose skin. Deburred and csk/dimpled same. Washed the new nose rib w/Dawn and scotch-brite roughened.

Test fit the right tank on the right wing. Fit looks much better than left. Skin to spar and splice plate hole all look concentric, and the 6 outboard z-brackets take the AN3-4A bolts w/out serious interference. HOWEVER...the inboard z-bracket holes are way out of alignment with spar holes/nutplates.

Will level the wing and make sure the spar "droop" is all leveled out before I do anything to the inboard z-bracket.

Augggghhhhh! Didn't install the damn things backwards this time, but the inboard bracket is still SNAFU (but not FUBAR...I hope), Van's method for locating these holes isn't foolproof...and Checkoway's method still drills the holes before the tank is together, pro-sealed, and riveted. I wonder if building the tank with NO bolt holes in the z-Brackets would work. Put the completed tank on the spar, drill the bolt holes using spar holes as drill guide, remove tank and install platenuts?
