Brief Description:  Rudder drill/deburr/dimple

Drilled the rest of the #40 holes in the assembled rudder. Disassembled same. Deburred rudder skeleton and horn members. Drilled rudder counterweight to the counterweight rib. Didn't have a #10 dimpler for the rib. Used a #8. Then cinched the #10 screws up with a steel backing plate into which I had drilled and countersunk a #10 hole. Countersunk #10 in the lead counterweight...everything fits gutentite.

Deburred rudder skins. The top three stiffeners' forward ends were interfering with the rudder main spar. Taped around the ends to protect the skin, then snipped off a bit of material, filed, and sanded until smooth. Skins sit tight to spar now. Also widened the tight slot that goes over the rudder horn noted yesterday.

These interferences were probably causing the oil-canning. We'll know when the assy goes back together.

Dimpled the rudder skins. Per instructions, drilled + dimpled aft 3 holes on top of skins to #30 and dimpled. Will be difficult to dimple for the top fiberglas when the skins are on, according to the manual.

Started to think about a jig to countersink the AEX trailing edge. Cut off the ends of the AEX's for the elevators, which gives two small pieces to lay under the rudder AEX so it will be square in the drill press.
