Brief Description:  Horizontal stab: Front/Rear Spars

Matched drilled HS-902 front spars to HS-907 doubler.
Matched drilled HS-903 rear spars to HS-906 doubler.
Matched drilled HS-912 outboard hinges to rear spars HS-906.
Marked spars for left-right orientation; marked doubler plates' orientation and numbered the outboard hinges (notated on dwg 3).

Began fabrication of HS-908-L/R attach brackets: marked angle, cut to rough shape on the bandsaw, located and drilled critical spar alignment hole to #40, then other 8 holes. Matched the brackets back to back, clamped and clecoed, match drilled #40, then enlarged all holes to #30.
Matched drilled HS-908-R to front spar--alignment fine (lower flange parallel to spar edge). Slipped drilling first hole on HS-908-L.

Time to quit for the night! Will realign and drill other seven holes first, then assess what to do about screwed up eighth hole. Elongation of hole in the spar may not be too severe, or go with next size rivet? Have not filed and smooth the edges of the HS-908 attach brackets yet--should have broken the back edges bearing on the spar doubler--some scratching of the Alclad will need sanding out, but I was going to prime anyway.

Final note: HS-911-PC elevator brackets that were missing arrived from Vans today.

Questions:

Should bolt holes (AN3) in front and rear spar be match drilled? If so, what drill?
