Brief Description: Static/pitot leaks resolved & misc jobs
Replaced plastic tubes between ADAHRS units with 1/4 Al tubing. The push-on tee fitting in the static lines leaked. Got new tee from Lowes aviation aisle. With static ports sealed with two crossing lengths of 3M electrical tape, system didn't leak. For end-to-end test, took tape off the right static port and arranged a short length of rubber tube around the needle as a seal. (Image 1) Have to push hard to maintain a good seal. Results: 1450-->1410' in 1.5 minutes: 26.7 fpm. PASS.
For pitot, I covered the AOA port with 2 pcs electrical tape (Image 2) and arranged a larger ID rubber tube to seal the tip of the pitot and the base of the needle (Image 3). Results: 213->212 kts in 1.5 min: 0.7 kts/min. PASS.
If AOA port is not sealed, leak rate is about 2x the spec for the pitot alone (20 kts/min), There being no specific spec for the AOA line's leak rate so far as I know, I'm leaving it as is. Other work done:
-- Finished opening all removable covers and inspection panels -- Installed Melton's 1" rudder extensions --Turned around the fwd-most grommets the rudder cables go through. The back of the swaged fitting was catching the edge of the body and pushing it out. With grommets reversed, swaged fitting catches the edge of the grommet slightly but can't push it out.
