Brief Description:  Nose fork helicoil; a test seating

Didn't include in the 7/7 entry: added what turned out to be nearly 1/8" worth of 'glas plies to the inside of the hinge pin covers for the cowl so that the points of the arrows can be sanded to conform with the rest of the cowl. Removed overhanging material with the vibrating saw, Started sanding down the extra thickness where it wasn't needed, then was hit by the most visitors in a single day I ever had.

Decided to get the helicoils installed in the nose fork 3/8-24 threads for the towing studs. I found some steel spacers at OSH, 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD, and turned them down at home to make the lugs a little longer. Everything went back together just fine.

EAA 663 chapter barbecue was held in the evening, Tricia came and afterwards she was game to mount up and try on the right seat for size. (Image 1) Need to extend the shoulder straps' yoke for the belts to fit. Height, angle, and leg room all good. A bit cozy width-wise. At least she didn't say she'd never get in that rattletrap airframe ever again....
