Brief Description:  Oil recovery/Spike/Mains Fairing Seams

Approx hours from 6/1 (evening) thru 6/3.

Put together a bunch of Sch 40 1-1/4 pipe fittings to make the oil collector in image 1. Got tired of waiting for an order from ACS. Completely overengineered for sure, including the stand from scrap 3/4 plywood. Works good though. About 1/8th of a quart drained from the 6 bottles into the 7th in the 100 degree heat!

Got some O1 tool steel and turned a 60 deg cone to put on the end of the passenger side removable stick in image 2. (Not inserted all the way). Will check the fit, then cross-drill and use Karl's forge to harden the point. In the unlikely event of needing to break open the canopy....

The mains leg fairings set up fine but have a lot of flox to clear away to get the hinges to close. Should have been more diligent clearing out the exess flox while it was uncured.

The instructions said sand the edge of the fwd cap of the main wheel fairings unitl the joint with the rear fairing is even. Heck with that. Taped up the inner and aft edge of the fwd caps and applied a layer of dielectric grease. Sanded the rear fairings at the join, buttered the flange with stiff micro, and pushed the fwd and aft pieces together. Spatula-ed more micro into the seam, and applied blue tape to make sure nothing moves until the micro cures.
