Brief Description:  Wing bolts all installed and torqued.

It took three more sessions on 12/28, 12/29, and 12/30 to get the bloody wing bolts in. Except for the inboard bottom 1/4" close-tol bolt, each of the other three bottom bolts required different approaches. What works: do whatever cockpit gymnastics is necessary to SEE the first few threads of the bolt sticking out and OBSERVE the nut as whatever is needed (a magnetic wand, a bent wire forming 5 of the 6 sides of a haxagon to grip the nut firmly) gets it into position to catch the first thread. Once on, snugging it up by turning the bolt goes relatively quickly, except for having to grind down an open end wrench that just couldn't get past the weldment to the nut on the left side as it did on the right. Then comes the fun of being able to rotate the ratcheting torque wrench one and only one ratch. Then remove it to advance one and only one ratch for the next pass. Slip up and move it two ratches? Well, spin the roulette wheel until the socket aligns with the bolt head again. WHAT A PITA! You may imagine a few swear words lubricated the proceedings, and you would be right.

After doing one bottom bolt, I'd spin a nut onto a top bolt (with my fingers--what joy!) and enjoy the sound of ratcheting through oodles of ratches, while the backup wrench on the nut interefered with nothing (ah, luxury!) for initial snugging and final torqueing.

At long last, the results are seen in images 1 and 2. I could only find two AN4-13A bolts in the diminishing pile of hardware to go through the F-904G center section vertical bars. A standard thickness washer still allowed a lot of thread to show coming out of the nutplate. So I tried two AN4-12A's on the other side, with thin washers, and wah-lah, 1-1/2 threads peek out. I'm calling that good, and I've got the photos to show these bolts are in; one SB has been complied with.

There was even time to do something besides wing bolts...image 3 shows leading edge tank attachment bolts all in place, torqued, and sealed.
